Canine Hydrotherapy
Maddie qualified as a canine hydrotherapist in January 2021 and is based at ‘Petffisio’, Cwmffrwd, just outside Carmarthen every Thursday for both physiotherapy and hydrotherapy (underwater treadmill) appointments.
Hydrotherapy on the underwater treadmill offers a controlled environment for recovery following surgery/injury.
- The buoyancy of the water offers support to joints and muscles allowing canine patients to increase their joint range of movement while weight bearing the affected limb(s).
- A more efficient way to build strength due to working against the water’s resistance.
- The warm water acts to increase circulation and ease pain and the hydrostatic pressure aids in reducing swelling.
- Hydrotherapy can reduce your dog’s overall recovery time.
- The height of the water, speed of the belt and length of sets are tailored carefully to suit your dog’s needs.
- Controlled environment therefore reducing the risk of re-injury.
- A great way to aid in weight loss and to improve fitness.
- Can be used as a conditioning tool for working/sporting dogs.
- Excellent for gait re-training.
- Can also be used for fun!
More information and prices can be found on the Petffisio website.
